    Palazzo delle Esposizioni – Vermeer

Vermeer. Il secolo d’oro dell’arte olandese Scuderie del Quirinale Rome, Italy 1 ottobre 2012 – 20 gennaio 2013 (a cura di Arthur K. Wheelock, Walter Liedtke e Sandrina Bandera)   Vermeer, Vermeer, il secolo d’oro dell’arte olandese (The Golden Century of Dutch Art) is the first public exhibition ever held in Italy of work by the greatest master of Dutch 17th century painting, and possibly one of the most popular painters in the entire history of art. The event is organised by the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo in conjunction with MondoMostre. The exhibition is curated by Arthur K. Wheelock, Curator of Northern Baroque Paintings, National Gallery of Art in Washington by Walter Liedtke, Curator of European Paintings Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and by Sandrina Bandera, Superindentant for the Historical, Artistic, and Ethno-anthropological Heritage of Milan. The exhibition will comprise not only a meticulous selection of works by Vermeer but also thirty works by his Dutch contemporaries, thus allowing the visitor both to explore the artistic genius of Vermeer himself and to understand the way in which the master’s work interacted with that of his fellow artists of the time.
